At times in our live, we must have arrived at the junction where we need to choose our next steps.
At times in our live, after choosing which path from the junction we may have a second thought of 'should I turn back and choose another path from that junction?'
Some one precious in my life taught me that once you have decided, never turn back and just go with the decision. All in all, we made that decision by and for ourselves didn't it?
In my life, I have met those junctions more than once. What are those junctions? My life's decision!
Did I regret taking one path? Before I met my loved ones, yes I keep regretting taking the path. However, as time goes on and I meet my loved ones, I never regretted it at all. I learned that if we have second thought, that means we were not firm in deciding and it was time to stop, think and decide it once again. It was just like you were taking back to that junction and start weighing your options.
I have a melancholic side of me, and yeah, that side is torturing me whenever it surfaced. But, having that side surfaced at the right time helped my decide and put my judgement at best as well.
Funny enough that whichever options that I have chosen, at times I also arrive in the similar junctions but the path to choose had changed. Some options that I dislike still there, other options that I liked are there, but there are also options that I can't avoid :O
I remember one talk from TED that for those given the choice to change their mind, they will always regretted their current decision. How so? No idea, but I guessed that is how human thought process works in conjunction with feelings.
So, here I am now, putting most of my life for a brief stopping period in pursuing my CCIE number.
What other aspects of life that I stop? Almost everything. The remaining active tasks (or process for those computer system geek address it), are:
- Home
- Work
- Eat/sleep/shower
- Study
This felt like when I was in high school year (oh yeah, I'd like to be back in high school!), the difference is that the work schedule replaced the school time, the study time stays the same for outside-school study times (except that it is now called 'after-hours').
There is also one major difference: if I don't do my work properly, I will be out of work! This situation didn't happen at school where you just failed and repeat the same years one more time. Only after several attempts and you failed, then you may be subject to be kicked out of school.
Why am I writing this now? It is to be shared amongst you CCIE taker that at most occasions you may need to sacrifice other things circling your life and put it into pause (or full stop) and resume it again once you have aced the exam (and coming out with your proudly-displayed CCIE number).
For those already do the routine like me even before you started your CCIE exam, then that should be easier for you as you just need to change the study subject to something else
Anyway, time to hit the reading materials again, my next one week's schedule is packed with things in place. I just need to ensure that I can managed it properly (... and I will!).
Till then ...
