Here it is, two more weeks to plunge into the next attempt!
What is my strategy this time? For the day before the exam, I would purposely do the following: - Unplug myself from the world (except my mobile phone to call home)
- After arriving in Sydney, find the most inviting restaurant and eat the most inviting cuisine (hopefuly the test is the best)
- Have a rest after that dining
- Sleep!
On the day: just go to the lab and get my number Am I over confident? Not at all, at least compared than the last attempt (ah hah! gotcha that the last time I was over-confident). Yeap, last attempt I overlooked a lot of configs; and honestly I was soo *excited* that I finally can sit in a CCIE lab exam! (what a shame!) Since the last attempt, the following things happen: - I have to drop my practice lab for almost 6 weeks, due to house moving and also the demotivation that happen in the last attempt
- It took me two weeks to really be in touch with my 'lab' again, due to the point above. (this happens between week 4 Dec 2006 and Week 1 Jan 2007
- It took me 1 mroe week to get myself adjusted back to have the lab up and running (this happens in week 2 and 3 of Jan 2007), because I changed my dynamips into 3640 routers (thanks to Brian from Internetwork Expert!
- It took me 3 days to think which date would be suiteable and I decided to go on mid feb ... but ... see next point...
- Since it is too close for the mid feb 2007, I decided to get on it on early March 2007 (and the lab exam booking happen on week 4 of Jan 2007)
Since the exam booking, I only live like this: - Mon - Wed: Get up, go to work, do work, go home, do lab till wee hours. Whenver idle: read DocCD (because not much time to access my lab, plus the locked down network access though
) - Thu - Fri: Get up, go to work, do work, go home, do some quality time with family, go home again, do lab till wee hours
- Sat: try not to sleep to much, get up at 8-9-ish, do some weekend shopping, go home, do lab, break, do lab, break, do lab, do lab, do lab ... till wee hours.
- Sun: same wake up time like saturday, another round of weekend shopping and family time, go home, do lab, break, do lab, break, do lab till ... around midnight and sleep for monday's fresh wakeup.
Honestly, doing this routine tasks is not my style. But I know that this disicpline must be performed in order to stick my mind to one focus: getting my CCIE number in early March 2007 This time, I have learned far more than the last one. This time, I have done less lab, but more mini-labs on my weak points (aka: wounds) This time: the battle is mine!
